AquaPrimus

The AquaPrimus project aims to advance offshore hydrogen production and serve as a development and demonstration platform for research institutions and companies. Technological innovations in offshore hydrogen production are tested and further developed under real conditions. The knowledge gained contributes to the scaling of offshore hydrogen production and enables more efficient industrial implementation.

AquaPrimus enables fast learning curves in offshore hydrogen production, independent of existing technologies such as wind energy or pipeline transportation. The focus is on key technologies such as seawater treatment, offshore electrolysis, compression, storage and hydrogen utilization. The project promotes the exchange of knowledge through close cooperation between relevant market players and strengthens the integration of hydrogen into existing and future value chains.

A flexible consortium model enables the integration of research and industry. Industrial consortia are given the opportunity to develop technologies for offshore hydrogen production and transfer them to future projects. AquaPrimus serves as a testing ground for stakeholders and consortia preparing for future SEN-1 tenders. It enables regulatory interactions to develop standardized approval processes and contributes to the development of robust cost and revenue models. The knowledge gained will be incorporated into the strategic planning of future offshore hydrogen projects.

By establishing a test and demonstration environment, key technologies for offshore hydrogen production are being further developed. AquaPrimus promotes the market penetration of scalable and cost-efficient hydrogen solutions.

In summary, AquaPrimus creates ideal conditions for research, development and industrial scaling of offshore hydrogen production and makes an essential contribution to the energy transition.
