RWE Renewables
The generation of electricity from renewable energy sources is bundled in RWE Renewables. Here, RWE has risen to become the “super player” in renewables. We are one of the world’s largest electricity producers in both the future field of offshore wind power and the solar business.
And we have a goal: to be climate neutral by 2040. To achieve this, we are reducing ourCO2 emissions as quickly and as strongly as possible by systematically scaling back or converting conventional power plants. From 2012 to the end of 2020, we have already reduced ourCO2 emissions by over 60%. No other company in Germany has achieved more here in recent years. We are resolutely pursuing this path.
Our employees work together to advance new, innovative technologies and implement highly interesting projects. With its comprehensive “Growing Green” investment and growth strategy, the Group as a whole is expanding its high-performance and green generation capacity. By 2030, it will have an international capacity of 50 gigawatts. More than 50 billion euros will be invested gross for this purpose in this decade.
The American continent, the core markets in Europe and new markets in the Asia-Pacific region are the focus of the approach. The project pipeline is well filled, in all technologies: Offshore and onshore wind power and photovoltaics. In Sweden, we are building Europe’s largest onshore wind farm, and in Australia the country’s largest solar power plant.
Due to the company’s increasing activities in the areas of onshore and offshore windas well as solar energy, RWE Renewables GmbH operates in the two functional units “Unit Renewables Europe & Australia” and “Unit Offshore Wind”. The Renewables Europe & Australia unit concentrates on the expansion of onshore wind and solar energy / PV on the continents of Europe and Australia, while the Offshore Wind unit is responsible for the international expansion of offshore wind facilities.
