AquaNavis

For climate-neutral shipping!

The AquaNavis project extends the value chain of the AquaVentus project family to include maritime applications powered by green hydrogen. It focuses on various types of ships with hydrogen-based propulsion. The aim is climate-neutrality at sea.

The use of hydrogen as a fuel is a must in shipping and requires a strong network. The AquaNavis project accepts this challenge and drives pilot projects forward.

The AquaNavis project extends the value chain of the AquaVentus project family to include maritime applications powered by green hydrogen. It focuses on various types of ships with hydrogen-based propulsion. The aim is climate-neutrality at sea.
From 2025, three ship types are to go into operation on the Heligoland:

  1. first offshore service vessels, so-called crew transfer vessels (CTV),
  2. a cargo ship to supply the island of Heligoland and
  3. an island ferry that transports passengers between Helgoland and the small neighboring island, the dune.

After the first phase, more ship types are added. As the first lighthouse projects, the innovative ships from AquaNavis can make an important contribution to the decarbonization of shipping.
