Hydrogen production at sea in the German exclusive economic zone can contribute as an essential building block for achieving the target of offshore capacity expansion as well as for efficient decarbonization of the industry. At the same time, it makes an important contribution to the diversification of supply sources for the procurement of green hydrogen.
The present draft amendment to the WindSeeG offers important starting points here, but should also take even greater account of the outstanding importance of offshore hydrogen with a view to the necessary continuation of the national hydrogen strategy. This includes, in particular, explicitly and consistently enabling hydrogen transport via collection pipelines.
