Site Development Plan: the North Sea is not only there to generate electricity

Berlin, 2 August 2026. In its response to the consultation on the 2025 Site Development Plan (FEP) of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), AquaVentus calls for the SEN-1 site to be preserved. The industry association insists on retaining the spatial basis of SEN-1, as otherwise the ramp-up of a strategically vital technology would be prevented there. Instead of an either/or decision between wind and hydrogen, AquaVentus puts forward its own proposal: in addition to the electrolysis already envisaged on SEN-1, a second 250 MW platform should be made possible — fed in part by wind power from the N-10.1 site.
