The combination of pipeline and cable infrastructure can increase the efficiency of renewable wind energy in remote areas of the North Sea and significantly reduce the costs of producing and transporting green hydrogen.
A study presented on September 11 by the consulting firm E-Bridge, which was commissioned by the AquaVentus Förderverein, shows in various scenarios that the net present value of the investment returns could be up to 31 billion euros higher in Germany alone.
AquaVentus Chairman Jörg Singer on the results of the study “The study shows clear recommendations for action: Firstly, we need a legal change in order to be able to leverage this socio-economic potential. This is possible in all other countries bordering the North Sea. Secondly, we need further efforts to enable the technology of hydrogen production at sea on a large scale.”
