Berlin, December 3, 2025 – At a high-level AquaVentus expert discussion on offshore sector coupling, the almost 60 participants from the energy industry, the German Bundestag and the Federal Network Agency were in clear agreement that combining electricity and hydrogen infrastructure is not only technically possible, but also urgently required from an economic perspective. This assessment was underpinned by the study by Frontier Economics, which was presented at the roundtable. This study shows, among other things, that combined electricity and hydrogen connections increase the utilization of the electricity infrastructure from 52 to 65 percent and at the same time require lower investments.
