Berlin, January 15 2026. The current draft of the Grid Development Plan (NEP) submitted by the transmission system operators (TSOs) fails to meet the requirements of a modern energy system and jeopardises Germany’s industrial base. This is the conclusion reached by AquaVentus following its evaluation of the plans as part of the ongoing consultation on the first draft of the NEP 2037/2045 (2025) from the TSOs. AquaVentus is calling on the Federal Network Agency Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) to critically examine the draft and to demand substantial additions in the further proceedings, as well as expansions in the offshore sector that go beyond mere electrification.
