Hamburg, January 26, 2026. On the occasion of the third North Sea Summit, AquaVentus is calling for the consistent implementation of political commitments to the integrated use of the North Sea’s energy potential. After evaluating the current energy policy debates, the initiative has come to the conclusion that offshore wind and offshore hydrogen have not yet been sufficiently considered together. AquaVentus calls on the German government and European partners to rapidly improve the framework conditions for offshore sector coupling, remove regulatory barriers and resolutely drive forward the expansion of offshore electrolysis and shared infrastructure in order to reduce costs, relieve the strain on grids and make the European energy supply more resilient.
